• Business listing information. Some listing details (such as business name, category, address, phone and website) are compiled from publicly available sources. Where a business claims or adds its listing, we also collect the information it provides.
• Account information. If you register to claim or manage a listing, we collect your name and email address, and information about the business you manage.
• Enquiry information. When you contact a business through the Service, we collect the name, email, phone number and message you provide.
• Payment information. Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card details; Stripe handles that directly.
• Usage information. Like most websites, we collect basic technical and usage data (such as pages visited and device or browser information) through analytics and cookies.

How we use your information

We use personal information to operate and improve the directory, to pass your enquiry to the business you selected, to create and manage accounts, to process and manage subscriptions, to respond to you, and to meet our legal obligations.

When we share your information

• Businesses you enquire with. When you submit an enquiry, your details and message are sent to that business so it can respond to you.
• Service providers. We use trusted providers to run the Service, including Stripe (payments), and hosting, database, email and analytics providers. They may access personal information only to perform services for us.
• Legal reasons. We may disclose information where required or authorised by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers (including our payment, hosting and database providers) may store or process data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and analytics to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work as well if you disable them.

Marketing

If we send you updates or marketing, you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. We will not send marketing to people who have only submitted an enquiry, beyond what is needed to handle that enquiry.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your listing

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by contacting us at hello@newcastlensw.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. If we cannot give you access, we will tell you why.

Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact us at hello@newcastlensw.com.au and we will work to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
